The framework (pipe) used to hang drapes for exhibit booths and portable drape walls consist of base plates, standard uprights, adjustable uprights and telescopic drape supports.
The standard style of pipe is a "slip fit" system where the upright is open at the bottom and can slip over a pin that is on the base. A screw in system is also available where the bottom of the upright is fitted with male threaded pipe nipple that can be screwed into the female threads on the base. The slip fit system is much faster to erect while the screw in system allows for more compact storage of the base plates.

Base Plates are made of zinc plated steel. Various sizes and thicknesses are available depending on the application. The 8 foot upright normally uses a 14" X 16" X 3/16" plate and the 3 foot upright an 8" X 14" X 3/16" plate. Generally speaking, plate size increases with the height of the upright and any environmental needs such as wind load or heavy foot traffic.

Standard Uprights are made of 1 1/2" O.D. anodized aluminum tubing. For exhibition booths they come in standard 8 foot and 3 foot fixed heights. Other fixed heights are available.

Adjustable Uprights are made of anodized aluminum tubing and are adjustable for variable heights.

Twist Lock Telescopic Drape Supports are made of two pieces of anodized aluminum tubing that telescope one piece inside each other. This allows for varying distance between the upright posts. The most common size adjusts between 6 feet (fully closed) to 10 feet (when fully extended). This 6 to 10 foot size allows for exhibition booths of 8' X 8', 8' X 10', 10' X 10'.
